However this is somewhat shocking to me. A team who lead innovative design and solution for their innovative services, especially competing with much bigger giants like Google or Microsoft, this does not make much sense to me.

Guess HR only looks through how many people are on “Bench” – most of R&D work is not “Sell” items so it can be reflected as “Bench” activities (I’m exaggerating…)… then fire them?

Curiosity out of many other reviews, I put down my name on subscription form. Few weeks later, I have delivered two issues of magazine…

It’s definitely a high quality, above-expectation magazine. Since many of design magazine spent so much advertising which is even not well organized and common topics on design, Monocle covers both seriousness and fun well.

** I was lucky enough (have extra cash refund from hotel) to buy Monocle tote bag made by Porter (Japanese bag company). While I was stay over Tokyo, I went to Daikanyama fashion area to visit B.Yoshida’s store.

Often I compared the meal service in the plane. This is a typical meal service in Asiana business class and I fully enjoyed this in only 2 hours flight between ICN and HKG. So you could imagine the first class meal. I’m wondering why many American airline companies are providing quite old-fashion, instant-look meal service in different class. Frankly, the meal services in United or American Air would not be “gorgeous” or “delicious” look. It’s getting better, but maybe the attitude of service could drop the economy in States at this moment? Attitude of service = Quality of service…

So United first class lounge in tokyo is really good. I mean it may have same or similar furniture and facilities as other airline, but their shower service on first class lounge is definitely freshing me up after 14 hours flight. Since I often used ORD – NRT – PEK route instead of direct, I love having a shower before down to Beijing… Maybe I should stop by and seeing around friends in Tokyo.

Some people thought that we are some type of higher positioned or ranked officer. We are just designers who happens to be there to know what they do. This type of exaggerated welcoming message makes me so shameful to think about what I do… daily. Well, at least I was a VIP during 4 hours visit in this factory. – By the way, using Red with Yellow text was quite impressive. It reminds me much of propaganda or poster from streets in Beijing.
