Monocle

monocle

Monocle is innovative, and yet deeply conservative. In fact, it’s almost surprising no-one’s tried it before. Still, there’s no question that Brûlé is to be congratulated. Monocle lives up to the hype — a stylish, intellectual magazine, which is a pleasure to read. – Peter Parkes

Curiosity out of many other reviews, I put down my name on subscription form. Few weeks later, I have delivered two issues of magazine… Continue reading ‘Monocle’

All look alike

noname japanese girl

I met this cute young (?) lady in the plane from Bangkok to Bengalore. Firstly I thought she is Korean. But later found that she is Japanese. I always trust my eyes to signify the nationality of Asian and trust me. I thought I’m really good at that.

So you could imagine the first class meal. I’m wondering why many American airline companies are providing quite old-fashion, instant-look meal service in different class. Frankly, the meal services in United or American Air would not be “gorgeous” or “delicious” look. It’s getting better, but maybe the attitude of service could drop the economy in States at this moment? Attitude of service = Quality of service…

Beijing downtown

_0011514.JPG

This was a view from my hotel room in Beijing downtown. Just like all other major developing cities in Asia, Beijing cannot be exceptional. A beautiful Chinese traditional houses are located just back of my hotel which is one of the modern and luxury buildings in Beijing. This contrast reminds me much of 60’s Tokyo and 70′-80’s Seoul. Well, thanks to unorganized urban planning, I had enough cough through every Beijing trip. This is only noon time and smog is quite bad as seen on picture.

During our research, we decided to sneak out from lab and go to visit a forbidden city. Well, eventually Scott and I was giving up less than 20 minutes (also it was too hot and we are definitely not tourists in PEK.
